An index to all my fiction with the exception of 'Five Things' and 'Commentfic'. While it was tempting to remove some others in the name of quality control, I resisted temptation--for now--with one exception.

Sadly, it appears that Michael Shanks didn't make it to the short list of Emmy nomminations for his wonderful work as 'Victor' on 'Burn Notice'. It's a disappointment, certainly. Here's who made the final cut, and there are no slouches on it, I'll admit:

Outstanding Guest Actor In A Drama Series

CSI: NY • Yahrzeit • CBS • A CBS/Paramount Television Production
Edward Asner as Abraham Klein

Damages • They Had to Tweeze That Out of My Kidney • FX Networks • FX Productions and Sony Pictures Television
Ted Danson as Arthur Frobisher

Dexter • Go Your Own Way • Showtime • Showtime Presents in association with John
Goldwyn Productions, The Colleton Company, Clyde Phillips Productions
Jimmy Smits as Miguel Prado

ER • And In The End • NBC • Constant c Productions, Amblin Television in association with Warner Bros. Television
Ernest Borgnine as Paul Manning

Rescue Me • Sheila • FX Networks • Produced by Apostle, The Cloudland Company and DreamWorks Television in association with Sony Pictures Television
Michael J. Fox as Dwight

[Note: I made this for some folks in my vid group who were having some letterbox issues. Hopefully others will find it interesting, also.]

If you find yourself asking 'why do those people look squished?' or 'why are there black bands around my video?', you probably have an aspect ratio problem. Sadly, this can occur at several points in the video making process.

Can someone tell me how to make a post on that unformatted white type of page, rather than with my LJ formatting?

I had so much fun playing this game with Aurora_Novarum's stories, that I decided to throw my hat in the ring!

"Inspired by Doctor Who's "Turn Left:" Pick one of my stories and tell me a point in the tale that you'd change -- something tiny or big -- and I'll tell you how that one difference would have altered the course of the entire story."

I made a fic index just for this occasion (not that I didn't need one anyway):

I felt compelled to look this guy up when I saw that while the state legislature had provided funds for the zoo, Mr. Patrick had vetoed it, leaving the historic zoo with no option but to close in months. Any animals that can't be placed will have to be euthanized.

Bravo, Mr. Patrick! While one understands the need to cut costs in these difficult times, could you not have made an exception for those costs that breathe? Self-interest alone should have prompted that! No one's going to vote for the guy who killed the zoo. CNN's link to the WCVB-TV story has pictures of the zoo's gorilla fingerpainting--shrewd political move, Sherlock. *facepalm*

I hold out hope that someone with more foresight and compassion than Mr. Patrick will ensure that this doesn't happen. If it does, well, I might have to become an independent, and hell will have frozen over... Okay, not frozen, that would be if I became a Republican, but it would be pretty darn slushy.

I'm curious about how people judge the stories they read at the awards, so I've made this here poll! Well, I hope it turns out to be a poll, never made one before. Anyhoo, if I missed anything you wonder about, bring it up in the comments--I can always do Part Deux.

I find this interesting. IMDB now lists this as MS' next project, dropping 'The Eastmans', (which wasn't picked up and is still in post-production) to number two:

Untitled Stargate: SG-1 Project (2010) (V) (announced) (rumored) .... Dr. Daniel Jackson

The 'announced' is a link to a section of the site that you have to pay for, so no idea what it says. Now, it has 'rumored' in brackets, but this is a relatively new addition, and everything that we know now about the film has been known for months, which makes me wonder what, if anything, prompted the addition.

There's also the fact that the number of people looking at his information page has gone up 18% this week. That's a pretty sizable amount fot a week where no new information/projects were released.

It may mean nothing more than a cable network played one of his movies (I really don't think the SG-1 movies being on 'Space' in Canada would create an 18% jump), but I find it very interesting. I wonder if someong knows something we don't?

It started with a very strange dream that I forgot until this afternoon. The dream was someone comparing the size of bullets to the size of the entry wound in the human body--precise to an eighth of an inch, but probably not true, since I have no idea. Their point was that I needed a bigger gun than a 9mm (which I don't have, but did in the dream). Uhhh... Okay. That's disturbing.

How did I forget this, you ask? Well, the day just continued along those lines (er, not exactly, of course).

To those who've been following my archeology posts, they aren't gone forever, I've just got a few too many things on my plate right now. I expect to resume in a few weeks. We'll just call it 'summer hiatus.' ;)

Go to http://quotationspage.com/random.php3 and browse the random quotes until you find five that you think reflect who you are or what you believe.

Where there is much desire to learn, there of necessity will be much arguing, much writing, many opinions; for opinions in good men is but knowledge in the making.
John Milton (1608 - 1674)

A good End cannot sanctifie evil Means; nor must we ever do Evil, that Good may come of it.
William Penn (1644 - 1718)

We've always been here and we'll always be here. We are a specific arrangement of particles and this instant is infinite. Did we luck out, or didn't we? The odds against this sentence having ever being typed, much less the odds against you reading it were inconceivable. Smile, because the fact that you're able to is almost impossible to comprehend.
Jeffrey Rowland, Sound! 12-22-05

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
Dr. Seuss (1904 - 1991)

There are two ways to slide easily through life; to believe everything or to doubt everything. Both ways save us from thinking.
Alfred Korzybski (1879 - 1950)

Okay, so most stuff is working now, but I can't seen to go to LJ sites that are set to adult contenr. The Fan awards page brings up a frame with the 'are you 14 or older' thing, but doesn't register a 'yes' when you click on it so you can't get to the story. Is this happening to other people? These are sites that I have no problems with on LJ...

Everything seems to be readable and votable now--Yay!

Some of the catagory choices are a little odd. I was surprised to read a story in the gen section that I would definately consider 'ship--a well written story, but ship, for all the focus was on the affect of the 'ship on the team... To be fair, I can see that it would be a very difficult story to catagorize. Still, I was like, 'whoa!'

Are other people still having trouble reading many of the stories? Because I'm getting black text on a dark blue background...

And, darn it, I'm having login weirdness and Yahoo won't let me send the team an email...

Life is hard!

PS. Ack! Tried to cast a vote, and it showed as a vote for (blank) by (blank)! The only thing there was a timestamp! Okay, tomorrow I have to sort this all out...

Edit: One of my emails got by Yahoo--Yay! Maybe life isn't so hard after all...

Hmmm. Sarah Palin has resigned as of the end of the month with 18 months to go in her first term as Governor. That's just bizarre.

My first thoughts were that a truly ugly scandal is about to emerge, or that she, or a member of her immediate family has been diagnosed with a terminal illness. If it's so she can get down to the lower 48 and campaign more, it's a very stupid decision, indeed.

Sure, Huckabee and Romney (especially Romney) have been campaigning actively, and being up in Alaska takes her out of the loop. Sure, Alaska is going through some tough times, and it's only going to get worse in the next 18 months, but... Seriously, she was elected to serve out her term. In the absence of better reasons than she gave, this looks flakey as all get out.

One of her biggest problems in the last election was the perception that she's too inexperienced. Leaving the Governorship without finishing even one term is not going to help with that one bit--and it adds 'quitter' to the mix. Making the announcement from her family's backyard to about 8 reporters who weren't allowed to ask questions... Well, that makes it look like she's ducking something really bad.

The level of emotion was rather high, both from her and from her Lieutenant Governor, for this to seem like an expected and well-considered departure. And there was the preparation for future criticism that took up a lot of the speech, along with the fairly bogus reasoning and lack of clarity... Very, very odd... I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like it... Wait, that's not quite true. While the content was different, there was something about the overall tone that reminded me of Nixon's resignation speech.

I'm really baffled. I can't see this actually helping her in either a run for the senate of Alaska, or a future run for the White House. When's the other shoe going to drop?

The Stampede Parade was today (that's this big rodeo thing we have here. It's quite a big deal. Anyway, there was a flyover by a couple of F-18s, one way, then back the other way. I didn't know they were going to be doing that, but I heard the engines is the distance. I love the sound of those engines... Awesome, awesome planes.

I waited in hopes that they would come back again, but there was a flyover by a couple of Griffons (the helicopters, not the mythological animals-the Canadian equivalent of the Blackhawk), so I knew they weren't doing another... Sigh. More fast planes, please!

The discovery of the second Ancient repository, to 'Dies Irae' from Mozart's Requiem. I don't know whose recording this is, sadly. It was remastered by myself, as well.

This time, again, I'm not including an embedded version. The one that shows on Divshare is not only annoyingly off time, but the sound is inferior to the downloaded version in a big way. I really advise downloading it to your hard drive. It's much better.

Note: 'Dies Irae' means 'Day of Wrath' in Latin... And Ancient, I suppose.

Set to the Theme from Peter Gunn, original Henry Mancini Orchestra version, slightly remastered by me.

I'm not including an embedded version this time, because converting it to a lesser format really messes with the timing. It always does, which is why downloading is so much better, but in this case, it's pretty important. While there is an embedded version on Divshare that I have no control over, I would really encourage downloading it to your hard drive. It's significantly better.
